eLife’s Board of Directors has issued a public letter of support for our new publishing model.

Ambassador, Dr. Ana Paula Mendonça, drives forward awareness for rare disease through this new initiative started on Rare Disease Day, February 28, 2023.

After serving eLife as Deputy Editor since 2018, we extend our thanks to Anna Akhmanova for her contributions.

As the pilot of the Open Peer Reviewers in Africa project comes to an end, AfricArXiv, Eider Africa, eLife, PREreview, and the Training Centre in Communication Africa reflect on this collaborative effort to promote best open peer-review practices in Africa.

While eLife’s new publishing model is focused on improving the ways research is communicated, our world-wide community of eLife Ambassadors is working towards reforming research culture and making science more accessible and reproducible.

Members of our eLife Ambassadors 2022 cohort are working together to enable other early-career researchers (ECRs) to understand the impact of, and get involved in science policy.

In January 2023, we switched to a new way of publishing where all papers reviewed by eLife are published as Reviewed Preprints.

This fifth report on our ongoing work to address inequities in research and publishing reflects on our activities at the end of last year and plans for the next six months.

With their extensive range of experience and perspectives, our new board members will help direct eLife in its mission to transform research communication.
