eLife is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief to lead its efforts to improve the way that new research findings are peer reviewed and communicated across the life sciences and medicine.
The Editor-in-Chief is the public face and champion of eLife, promoting the journal within the research community, driving forward its new approach to peer review, and maintaining its reputation for publishing excellent science. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the editorial direction and vision of the journal, providing leadership to a team of over 800 academic editors (comprised of Deputy Editors, Senior Editors and Reviewing Editors).
With the progress that eLife has made over the past 12 years – in peer review and publishing, open access, technology development, and advocacy for reform in the evaluation of research – the incoming Editor-in-Chief will have a strong foundation on which to build and catalyse real improvement in the conduct and communication of research in the life sciences and medicine.

The Editor-in-Chief Appointment Subcommittee, a cross-section of members of the eLife Board of Directors will appoint the new Editor-in-Chief.
